Education

End Chronic Disease is dedicated to ending the chronic illness crisis in America by making science-based, prevention-focused learning, living, and leading the standard rather than the exception.

Our systems-change and storytelling efforts empower Americans with knowledge and agency to reclaim their health while igniting a culture of healing that transforms individuals, communities, and the systems that shape them.

We’ve united a growing coalition of experts and changemakers across the health ecosystem — from doctors, scientists, and nutritionists to professors, industry pioneers, and influential media voices — who are at the forefront of this change.

Policy Reform

We champion science-based, prevention-first policies at the state level that prioritize patient empowerment and root cause care. So far in 2025, we’ve helped pass 25 bills across 12 states ranging from improving nutrition access to mandating toxin reduction, labeling transparency, fitness in schools, and preventive health education. Following is a summary of our legislative wins in 2025 to date:

  • 10 state motions to remove soda and candy from SNAP eligibility. SNAP is a taxpayer funded nutrition program. Soda is the #1 most purchased item with SNAP benefits, per USDA data. SNAP participants face higher rates of chronic illness, regardless of income level. SNAP spending accounts for ~63% of an average participant’s grocery bill each month, leaving 37% to personal discretion. Soda and candy have no place in the SNAP program.
  • 7 bills prohibiting specific additives and dyes in school lunches. 30 million students rely on school lunches each day. Schools serve more meals per year than any U.S. restaurant chain.
  • 2 bills prohibiting chemicals in the state food supply. The U.S. allows 10,000 chemicals in our food supply, while the EU only allows 400.
  • 2 bills mandating nutrition education for medical professionals. U.S. medical schools currently have no mandated nutrition education requirements.
  • 2 bills mandating labeling of unhealthy ingredients. Transparency and education are two of the most important tools we have in the fight against chronic illness.
  • 1 bill establishing a Nutrition Advisory Council. Poor nutrition is one of the leding causes of chronic illness in the U.S.
  • 1 bill mandating physical education in schools. Only 15% of U.S. teens currently meet daily suggested activity requirements.
